ABOUT DRM 2025

Powering Resilience Through Innovation
As disasters become more frequent, complex, and devastating across Southern Africa, the need for smarter, data-driven approaches to disaster risk management (DRM) has never been greater. The 4th Instalment of Drones, AI & GIS for Disaster Risk Management is a regional platform for innovation, dialogue, and collaboration - bringing together leading voices in technology, emergency response, and policy.
Hosted in KwaZulu-Natal, a region all too familiar with the impacts of disaster, the 2025 event is more than just a conference - it’s a collective movement toward a safer, more resilient continent, powered by next-generation tools:
-
Drones - for rapid damage assessment, search and rescue operations, and real-time situational awareness
-
Artificial Intelligence (AI) - to drive predictive analytics and strengthen early warning systems
-
Geographic Information Systems (GIS) – to visualise risk, support planning, and guide response and recovery

Aligned for Impact
This year’s programme is grounded in the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Management and the Early Warnings for All initiative — ensuring that every discussion is not only visionary, but actionable and globally aligned.
Attendees Will:
-
Explore the latest technology applications in disaster risk management
-
Network with government leaders, NGOs, researchers, and private sector innovators
-
Engage in workshops, live demonstrations, and collaborative knowledge-sharing sessions
-
Contribute to shaping a regional roadmap for integrated, tech-driven disaster resilience
Whether you're a policymaker, technologist, academic, first responder, or donor, this event offers an unparalleled opportunity to advance your mission - and amplify our collective impact on disaster resilience across Southern Africa.
